First BODAN railroad crossing in Italy: Gmundner Fertigteile delivers quality to Livorno

Gmundner Fertigteile has set another milestone with the first BODAN level crossing in Italy. An innovative level crossing from Ohlsdorf was recently successfully installed in the port city of Livorno – under challenging conditions.

The project at a glance:

  • 2 x 12 meter long transition elements
  • Laying in a 190-meter track curve
  • Track widening from 1,435 mm to 1,455 mm
  • Around 6,000 vehicles (motorcycles, cars, caravans and trucks) used the new crossing on the very first day of operation

The customer was particularly pleased with the result – both in terms of the quality of the design and the resilience of the system during operation.
