Grand opening with a view: New production hall of Gmundner Fertigteile put into operation

A strong signal for the future – and the region.

On June 6, 2025, a special milestone was celebrated for Gmundner Fertigteile in Ohlsdorf: the official opening of the new production hall. Together with numerous guests of honor, partners, colleagues and neighbors, not only was the modern hall inaugurated – but also a cheerful celebration for the entire workforce.
The new production hall stands for modern production, efficiency and future-proof capacities. It is an expression of our clear commitment to the Ohlsdorf site and strengthens regional value creation – in line with our guiding principle: “We create connections.
But the day was more than just an official ceremony. Our employees and their families were also invited to experience this important moment – with everything that makes a successful summer party: delicious food, refreshing cocktails, a colorful children’s program and an exciting look behind the scenes of production.

Highlights of the day:

  • a ride on the Felbermayr crane at a height of 60 meters
  • Bouncy castle, soccer darts and face painting for the little guests
  • Table magician Maguel, who amazed everyone with his magic
  • a big guessing game with attractive prizes, in which knowledge and intuition were required

In the new hall, visitors were able to experience our products up close and gain an insight into ongoing production – an exciting change of perspective for young and old alike.

We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of this day – in the implementation, in the organization and through their enthusiasm.

The new production hall

The new hall with a length of 85 meters, a width of 25 meters and a height of 16 meters was built directly at the company headquarters. The centerpiece is a powerful 60-ton crane, which enables the production of large and heavy concrete components and makes internal logistics processes much more efficient. “With the construction of this modern production hall, we are sending a strong signal for our further development. As a medium-sized company that operates in a niche market, we are required to be particularly efficient and innovative – this hall is a central building block for this,” says Managing Director Christof Neumann.

Tailor-made solutions for global infrastructure projects
Gmundner Fertigteile has been supplying its innovative precast concrete elements to customers all over the world for decades – from Germany, the Czech Republic and Switzerland to Malaysia, Japan and Australia. In 2025, a level crossing system was installed for demonstration purposes in India for the first time. The export rate of these durable precast concrete parts, which are durable in all climate zones around the world, is over 50 percent.
“No two level crossings are the same – we develop tailor-made solutions together with our customers. Our products are extremely durable and meet the highest safety standards,” explains Managing Director Thomas Danner. Around 3,000 level crossing systems have already been installed in Austria. Many of them have been in operation for over 30 years – a testament to quality, innovative strength and sustainable thinking.
Gmundner Fertigteile prefabricated parts deliver from the region for the region – with a minimal CO₂ footprint: cement from Gmunden, gravel directly on site, short transport routes. In addition, a large-scale photovoltaic system covers around half of the electricity consumption.

Employer with responsibility
Many of the current 65 employees have been part of the team for decades or are the second generation to work in the company. Gmundner Fertigteile is not only a valued employer in the region, but also a reliable partner: local associations and social projects are regularly supported, especially where employees are involved. “The new production hall symbolizes what is important to us – innovative strength, regional ties and, above all, the people behind Gmundner Fertigteile, the employees,” says Karl Neumann, CEO Stern-Gruppe.
